#PeopleofPCH is a series that highlights the diverse stories of staff, residents, and families across Partners Community Health (PCH).

Say hello to Amanda Whitehead, the newest Social Worker at Wellbrook Place West. Amanda shares her story for National Social Work Month. The theme for this year’s National Social Work Month is “Wherever you are, so are we,” and to also celebrate the March #BelongingatPCH theme of #Empowerment, Amanda shares her story:

“From a young age, I knew I wanted to be in a profession where I could help others. My journey into social work started with a passion for advocating for people who may not have a voice or who need extra support navigating difficult circumstances. I’ve always believed in meeting people where they are, whether that means offering emotional support, connecting them to resources, or simply listening without judgment. That belief has guided me through my career and brought me to Wellbrook Place West, where I feel honored to support our residents and their families.

Empowerment is at the heart of what I do. Social work is not about telling people what to do—it’s about giving them the tools and confidence to make decisions that are right for them. Every day, I work to ensure that residents feel heard, valued, and capable of shaping their own journeys. When someone realizes they have the strength to advocate for themselves, it’s an incredible moment.

The theme for National Social Work Month, “Wherever you are, so are we,” resonates deeply with me. Social workers are there in moments of crisis, in times of transition, and in celebrations of resilience. We are present in hospitals, long-term care homes, schools, and communities, ensuring that no one has to navigate life’s challenges alone. At Wellbrook Place West, I see the impact of that presence every day—whether it’s helping a resident adjust to a new environment, supporting families through difficult decisions, or simply providing a compassionate space to talk.

Being part of Partners Community Health has reinforced my belief in the power of community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of an organization that values belonging, empowerment, and compassionate care. I look forward to continuing this journey, walking alongside residents and their families, and making a meaningful difference—wherever they are, and wherever I can be of support.”
