Partnership is at the heart of everything we do at Partners Community Health (PCH).
This spirit was on full display at Wellbrook Place last week as residents, families, staff, volunteers, students, and community partners came together for two special events: Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day on Friday, September 18 and the inaugural Wellbrook Place Family Fest on Saturday, September 19.
Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day, part of a province-wide celebration of the long-term care sector organized by Ontario Long-Term Care Association and AdvantAge Ontario, provided PCH an opportunity to open Wellbrook Place’s doors to government and sector partners, strengthen connections, and celebrate the people who make long-term care communities thrive. The afternoon featured a performance by the Young at Heart Choir, opportunities for residents, families, and guests to connect, and recognition awards honouring the meaningful contributions of residents, family members, staff, and volunteers.
PCH was also pleased to welcome Donna Duncan, CEO, Ontario Long Term Care Association, Lisa Levin, CEO, AdvantAge Ontario and the Honourable Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care, who joined us in celebrating our community and the important role partnerships play in supporting seniors and aging adults.
The celebrations continued the following day as the Family Councils of Wellbrook Place East and Wellbrook Place West hosted the first-ever Wellbrook Place Family Fest. Held in the Main Lobby, the event brought together residents, families, staff, and community partners for an afternoon of connection, learning, and fun. Guests enjoyed live music, participated in raffles, and visited educational booths hosted by organizations including Silverts Adaptable Clothing, On-Site Specialists, Hospice Mississauga, and the Alzheimer Society of Peel.
Family Fest also highlighted the important role Family Councils play in fostering engagement, advocacy, and connection within the Wellbrook Place community. Through regular meetings and collaboration with home leadership, the councils provide a supportive forum for family members to share experiences, discuss topics that matter most to them, and help strengthen the resident and family experience across the homes. New members are always welcome to join.

Together, these two events demonstrated how partnership strengthens every aspect of the care experience at PCH. By bringing together residents, families, staff, volunteers, students, and community organizations, Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day and Family Fest created meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, recognition, and collaboration.

These partnerships directly support PCH’s Strategic Plan, including PCH’s commitment to Elevate Our People for the Future and Drive Connected Care for Seniors and Aging Adults in the Community. Celebrating the contributions of residents, family members, staff, and volunteers while also strengthen relationships with community partners that provide valuable services, supports, and resources that enhance well-being and quality of life at the homes.
As PCH celebrates its Belonging@PCH September theme of Partnership, these events serve as a reminder that when people come together around a shared purpose, we create stronger communities, richer experiences, and better outcomes for seniors and aging adults.
